Valerie has lived experience with MCS expressed throughout multi-body systems, including her respiratory, musculoskeletal, and neurological systems. For almost 40 years, she has lived with the associated daily symptoms of severe full-body pain, extreme fatigue, very low energy, respiratory distress, and mental fog. Additionally, she has lived with the daily experience of exclusion from society due to the multiple accessibility barriers (both physical and attitudinal) that are pervasive throughout. This experience has propelled Valerie to commit her limited energy to making societal changes to improve the lives of all those living with MCS and disabilities generally. Valerie is an active member of and is especially inspired by the work of the Environmental Health Association of Quebec and Canada, their team, and its members. In furtherance of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, she sits on an Accessibility Advisory Committee providing advice to the regional government on a wide range of processes to help make public services and facilities accessible to everyone.
